(1809) Even if we bypass the fact it's the wrapping of a sweet...


...the image of Princess Daruma (Hime Daruma/姫だるま) owing its existence either to the attempt of the people of Edo to go against the macho stereotype of the regular Daruma or to the third century Empress Jingu (神功) who, when she found out that she was pregnant, she made a doll to pray for a safe delivery, is quite unusual. But not uncommon in Matsuyama where supposedly is where the empress was when she got the good news.
