(2274) Holidays leftovers: It's only a paper kadomatsu

Nihon_arekore_02300_Paper_kadomatsu_100_cl

Another version of kadomatsu, the traditional decoration with the bamboo and the pines about which I wrote last week: many houses these days had these strips of paper with some variation of the basic wish "Gasho" (賀正) which means "Happy New Year". On the left side, they have the name of the neighborhood association (in our case "Kaminarimon Tawara Chokai"/雷門田原町会) since they are the ones who print them and give them to the people living in their area.

(For a bigger version of this picture both in color and black and white, check my "Japan Arekore" set on Flickr).
