(56) Asakusa Sanja Matsuri (IV): And them…


Their tattoos can be traced back to the Edo period (1600-1868) the most interesting (for me, anyway) period of the Japanese history; the same goes for their historical origins, at least according to them. And although the pressure by the police has been increased, in the Sanja Matsuri they are allowed (by custom) to expose them proudly to the whole world.
