In March I had presented my first two bonsai; tomorrow they will go for their first haircut so they will start looking a little more like bonsai. Since the day before yesterday though, one more has been added: the maple Momisaburo (紅三郎) whom a family friend was kind enough to offer me. These trees, called momiji (紅葉) in Japanese are the ones that turn red in autumn creating some unbelievable landscapes, equal if not better than those with the cherry trees.
(For a bigger version of this picture both in color and black and white, check my "Japan Arekore 2" set on Flickr).
