(2241) Many neon Daruma

Nihon_arekore_02266_Daruma_sake_100_cl

I know that Daruma is one of the most recognizable figures of Japanese folk tradition -and by now, those who read this blog know it too. But every now and then, the idea that the founder of a very popular religious sect (Zen Buddhism for those who don't remember) is used as the name of something as unrelated as e.g. the name of an izakaya (something like a bar that also serves some food for those who don't remember) still surprises me.

(For a bigger version of this picture both in color and black and white, check my "Japan Arekore" set on Flickr).
