(636) Useless inventions

A characteristic example of what the Japanese call “chindogu” (珍道具), that is, an essentially useless gadget with a life cycle of just a few months: when washing rice before boiling it, you must stir it with your hand. But what happens if you have long nails? You buy one of these rice-stirrers –apparently using, say, a fork isn’t exciting enough.
