(235) Made-up chairs

After the two airport terminals, the train stops at Narita city and there the passengers can take a first taste of the connection between the area’s big Narita-san (成田山) temple and the Kabuki guild “Naritaya” (成田屋) the most famous “family” of the particular genre and home of the actors Ichikawa Danjuro (市川團十郎) and Ichikawa Ebizo (市川海老蔵): the chairs on the station’s platform have the very characteristic “kumadori” (隈取) make-up of some of Kabuki’s (and the guild’s) most famous roles painted on them.
