...Afuri Jinja itself, said to be founded at the time of emperor Sujin (崇神天皇), Japan's first historically accepted emperor i.e. 2100 years ago. To be precise, this is the lower shrine or shimosa (下社) --the main shrine or honsha (本社) is two hours of mountain climbing away so we thought we'd leave it for the next time.
