(826) Building on the Buddha motif


The other day I realized that I haven't written here (although I have written elsewhere) anything about the Great Buddha of Kamakura, the only reference about Japan I remember from my childhood and, possibly, the first trigger for my relationship with this country. You will find him sitting since 1252 in the Kotokuin  (高徳院) Temple in Kamakura's Hase (長谷) gazing peacfully from 37 feet high the people below him.
