It was put up around Christmas (hence the message on the right) at the metro station in Ginza as a decoration, art exhibition and advertisement for Aomori's Nebuta (ねぶた) festival: the gods Fujin (風神) and Raijin (雷神) of the winds and thunders, respectively, more famous from their presence in Asakusa's Kaminarimon but also from a work of Ogata Korin (尾形光琳, 1658-1716) of the Rinpa (琳派) school of painting which is at the National Museum in Ueno. The style they are made is that of the Nebuta floats; the difference is that here they are in miniature since the real floats are enormous.
