(1738) And to wrap it up with deer...

...here they are in some somewhat different incarnations around Nara:

In the city's mascot, Sento-kun (せんとくん)...

...in Daruma...

...in hoods...

...in hats, purses and paper folders...

...in mittens and key chains...

...in dolls...

...in men's underwear with obvious messages...

...in t-shirt with a little less obvious messages: "shika" is deer in Japanese and the slogan on the bottom says "yaru 鹿 nai" with "鹿" the character for shika/deer. Therefore, "yaru shika nai" or "your only choice is to do" (pretty much what NIKE would say "just do it".)

...in candy...

...in more candy named and shaped as a deer, ahem, product ("Recommended by kid Big Buddha" -really, that's what it says on the top right corner)...

...and stuffed in front of shops.

(For a bigger version of these pictures both in color and black and white, check my "Japan Arekore" set on Flickr)
