(2746) The weather started getting colder...

...so winter clothes are on. With a mandatory dose of cuteness, of course.

At the counters after the super-market register, where you stand and arrange your groceries: disposable spoons for ice cream, a sponge to wet your fingers so you can open the bags easily, bags folded one by one so you can get them faster and tape to close them. My favorite is the folded bags.

(2745) Λεπτομέρειες, μέρος 1149

Στους πάγκους πίσω από τα ταμεία του σούπερ-μάρκετ όπου στέκεσαι για να τακτοποιήσεις τα ψώνια σου: κουταλάκια μιας χρήσης για παγωτά, σφουγγαράκι για να βρέχεις τα δάχτυλά σου ώστε να μπορείς να ανοίγεις τις σακούλες εύκολα, σακούλες διπλωμένες μία-μία ώστε να μπορείς να τις παίρνεις πιο γρήγορα και σελοτέιπ για να τις κλείνεις. Το αγαπημένο μου είναι οι διπλωμένες σακούλες.

(2744) And from Ueno to Asakusa...

...and to one of those amazing grannies who ride bicycles in kimono; I am sure I have posted another one of them before but every time I see them, I cannot resist!

(2744) Και από το Ουένο στην Ασακούσα...

...και σε μια από αυτές τις φοβερές γιαγιάδες που κάνουν ποδήλατο με το κιμονό --είμαι σίγουρος ότι έχω ξαναβάλει κάποια στο παρελθόν αλλά δεν μπορώ να αντισταθώ όποτε τις βλέπω!

(2743) Still in Ueno...

...but out of the zoo and the park, one more resident of the area; Ueno together with Shinjuku, has the sad privilege of being the area with the highest numbers of homeless people.

(2743) Ακόμα στο Ουένο...

...αλλά έξω από τον ζωολογικό κήπο και το πάρκο, ένας άλλος κάτοικος της περιοχής --το Ουένο, μαζί με το Σιντζούκου, έχει το θλιβερό προνόμιο να είναι οι περιοχή με τον μεγαλύτερο αριθμό αστέγων.

(2742) And speaking about the Ueno zoo...

...here's one of its residents. Not the most spectacular, but I always had a thing for rhinos --because of Rhino Records, of course.

(2742) Και μιλώντας για τον ζωολογικό κήπο του Ουένο...

...να και ένας κάτοικός του. Όχι ο εντυπωσιακότερος, αλλά πάντοτε είχα κάτι με τους ρινόκερους --λόγω της Rhino Records, βεβαίως.

(2741) The pagoda of Kaneiji...

...(寛永寺) temple, in Ueno park; the temple was destroyed in in July 1868, in the battle of Ueno which was the largest combat that happened in Edo/Tokyo between the forces of the Tokugawa shogun and those of the Meiji emperor. The Tokugawa shogunate fell, the emperor took over the rule of the country, Kaneiji's grounds became Ueno Park and the pagoda was moved in the zoo that is in the park. If I'm not mistaken, there are six five-story pagodas in Tokyo and two of them are in our ward, Taito: this is the one and the other is that of Sensoji in Asakusa.
