Shitennoji's main building, Kondo () which houses a statue of its founder, prince Shotoku Taishi as Kannon, surrounded but the Four Heavenly Kings (Shitenno/四天王), four deities that are often depicted as guardians of Buddha (or his teachings, or the world in general); they are the ones that have given the temple its name. Next to it, there is a five-story pagoda which is said to house relics of the historical Buddha and some of Shotoku Taishi's hair. Unfortunately photography is not allowed in the building and although I was alone, I chose to just shoot it from the outside.
