This restaurant specializing in soba is very close to our old house in Kanagawa but it was only recently that I went there for the first time.
Views of the dining room.
The tray with the condiments (soy sauce, spices etc.) -the Japanese always pay special attention to those.
The women's toilet (yes, Atsuko took these pictures!)
The mandatory garden -you must have one even if it's small.
Tempura for the table.
My set: katsudon on the left, plain hot soba on the right and miso soup on the top left.
Cold soba with eggplants and tsuyu sauce.
Cold soba with curry soup.
And plain cold soba (that was Atsuko's who often has a minimal approach to dining).
The shop is called "Shinshu Soba" (信州そば) and refers to a variety of soba made in Nagano. I haven't eaten the real thing since I haven't yet been to Nagano but those we had there where excellent. Which goes to show for the umpteenth time that in Japan you can get very good food anywhere.
