...so I thought that the first time I'd be going to the cinema in Japan had to be during the first week of the new "Godzilla" or, in Japanese "Shin Gojira" (シン・ゴジラ). So we went to Nihonbashi, to a Toho multiplex -Toho is the studio that made the movie and actually created Godzilla and has several such complexes all over the place...
...we bought our tickets from the machines (naturally)...
...we resisted the temptation to by one, justifiably, "mega popcorn"...
...which was indeed "mega"...
...we browsed the official merchandise (here books and puzzles)...
...here document folders (very popular in Japan: you can get them with anything you can imagine on) combining Godzilla and ukiyo-e...
...refrigerator magnets, also with the same combination...
...key chains, photographs, pins, badges etc....
...and of course candy (why?!)...
...and moved on to our screen.
Special attention has being paid to the tray for the foodstuff which clips on the seat and can be moved so it won't burden the viewer.
And then the movie started which, as everyone can imagine, spectacular.
Oh, no, there goes Tokyo! Go go Godzilla! (Don't tell me you didn't see that coming: is it possible to be in Tokyo, see on a giant screen Godzilla destroying Tokyo and not think of this song?)
And yes, I couldn't resist this temptation: a magnet with the ukiyo-e Godzilla and two pins. Which I'll probably never wear but this doesn't matter.
