...what every New Year decoration item is, in various places (like in this super-market, one of Asakusa's four biggest) there are signs explaining it. One of the things that have made an impression in Japan is that there is a broader trend to educate/remind the Japanese of the elements that make up their identity as Japanese and this is one such example. I mean, in the culture I grew up and in a couple of others I feel comfortable to speak of, information like those provided by the sign were never given by third parties -they were things you learned from your family or at school. And even though this is also true in Japan too, it's interesting that here it is not limited there but it extends to society as well.
