(2782) Meaty Christmas

Nihon_arekore_02810_Nikurisumas_100_cl

In Japan at Christmas, besides chicken (not turkey: chicken) many people eat meat (steaks etc.) so supermarkets really go crazy. Here a picture from one of our neighborhood supermarkets which reminds us that Christmas are for meat: meat in Japanese is "niku" (肉) and Christmas, "Kurisumasu" (クリスマス) so the combination "Niku-risumasu" sounds obvious. (Detail: in the price sticker it says "Merry Christmas!/Meri Kurisumasu!/メリクリスマス!" and the same sticker was in all meat products, including pork, minced meat etc.)

(For a bigger version of this picture both in color and black and white, check my "Japan Arekore" set on Flickr).
