And not just any dolls: even those who don't know anything about Japan, will probably have seen somewhere the kokeshi (こけし) dolls, one of the most characteristic folk art specimens of the Tohoku (東北) region, part of which is Sendai. Here, at Sendai Station, a map showing different kokeshi from different areas in Tohoku.
