(1034) Primo (sea)weed

Founded in 1849, "Yamamoto Noriten" (山本海苔店) is one of the relatively new shops in Nihonbashi. As its name suggests, the shop specializes in nori seaweed.

It's a little hard to believe it but all these fancy packages contain different nori varieties.

Of course the shop couldn't be missing the mandatory classic-style corner for customers waiting.

A model of the ship the company used to transport nori back in the Edo period.

The sign from the old store.

And some samples so you can try before you buy.

(For a bigger version of these pictures both in color and black and white, check my "Japan Arekore" set on Flickr)
