A tourist came and asked me puzzled “What is this building and why is everybody photographing it?” That building was Tokyo’s central railroad station (and one of the few things officially called “Tokyo” in this city-that-isn’t-a-city) and the reason everybody was taking pictures was that the particular day was the day the renovation of the Marunouchi (丸の内) side was completed. In other words it was the first day after the air raids of 1945 that people could see the building in its original form.
