...(温泉) that is hot springs in Japan and as a rule their names include the character "湯" ("yu") meaning "hot water". Among those I've seen so far, Sendai's "Corona no yu" (コロナの湯) has the most unusual name. And by "unusual" I mean of course, "absolutely weird".

...(温泉) δηλαδή θερμές πηγές στην Ιαπωνία και κατά κανόνα οι ονομασίες τους περιέχουν τον χαρακτήρα "湯" (" γιου") που σημαίνει "ζεστό νερό". Από όσα έχω δει ως τώρα, το "Κορόνα νο γιου" (コロナの湯) του Σεντάι, έχει την πιο ασυνήθιστη ονομασία. Και λέγοντας "ασυνήθιστη", εννοώ βεβαίως "απολύτως αλλόκοτη".

...for this trip, Kamome no Sera-kun (かもめのセーラーくん), a seagull-sailor advertising a confectionery of the Sanriku (三陸) region that includes Miyagi's coasts; the sweet is called "kamome no tamago" (かもめの玉子) which translates as "seagull's egg" because of its appearance.

...γι αυτό το ταξίδι, ο Καμόμε νο Σέρα-κουν (かもめのセーラーくん), ένας γλάρος-ναύτης που διαφημίζει ένα γλυκό της περιοχής Σανρίκου (三陸) που περιλαμβάνει και το παραθαλάσσιο κομμάτι του Μιγιάγκι· το γλυκό λέγεται "καμόμε νο ταμάγο" (かもめの玉子) που μεταφράζεται "αυγό του γλάρου" λόγω της εμφάνισής του.

...is also participating in Miyagi's promotion as Date Masamune (we mentioned him the other day). Attention to detail: Masamune was one-eyed so Kitty is also wearing a patch on her right eye. In the other set of socks, Kitty is dressed as a cow because one of Miyagi's most famous products is beef tongue.

Προσοχή στη λεπτομέρεια: ο Μασαμούνε ήταν μονόφθαλμος οπότε και η Κίτι φοράει αντίστοιχα ένα κάλυμμα στο δεξί της μάτι. Στο άλλο σετ κάλτσες, η Κίτι είναι ντυμένη αγελάδα γιατί ένα από τα πιο διάσημα προϊόντα του Μιγιάγκι είναι η μοσχαρίσια γλώσσα.

...this is Musubimaru (むすび丸), the mascot of the whole Miyagi Prefecture. His head is made of an onigiri, the triangular half-wrapped in a strip of nori seaweed rice ball that is the ultimate Japanese soul food (Miyagi is famous for its rice) and he is wearing the armor of the feudal lord and general Date Masamune (伊達 政宗, 1567-1636), Miyagi's hero and the man who made its capital, Sendai, one of Japan's most important cities. Here as a plush toy, in public works' fencing and on a vending machine.

...αυτός είναι ο Μουσούμπι-μαρού (むすび丸), η μασκότ όλου του νομού Μιγιάγκι. Το κεφάλι του είναι φτιαγμένο από ένα ονίγιρι, το φτιαγμένο από ρύζι και μισό-τυλιγμένο με μια λωρίδα φύκι νόρι τρίγωνο σνακ που είναι το απόλυτο ιαπωνικό σόουλ-φουντ (το Μιγιάγκι είναι διάσημο για το ρύζι του) και φοράει την πανοπλία του φεουδάρχη και στρατηγού Ντάτε Μασαμούνε (伊達 政宗, 1567-1636) που είναι ο ήρωας του Μιγιάγκι και ο άνθρωπος που έκανε την πρωτεύουσά του, το Σεντάι, μια από τις πιο σημαντικές πόλεις της Ιαπωνίας. Σε κούκλα, σε περίφραξη δημοσίων έργων και σε αυτόματο πωλητή.

...( ホヤぼーや) and he is the mascot of Kesennuma we mentioned yesterday. Here, in another of the city's fish-markets, a Shinto "shrine" dedicated to him including, of course, a boutique with his merchandise.

...( ホヤぼーや) και είναι η μασκότ της Κεσενούμα που λέγαμε εχτές. Εδώ, σε μια άλλη ψαραγορά της πόλης, ένας σιντοϊστικός "ναός" αφιερωμένος σ' αυτόν που περιλαβάνει, βεβαίως και τη σχετική μπουτίκ.

...but in places like Kesennuma (気仙沼) in the north of Miyagi (no relationship) prefecture, the day of the big tsunami hasn't been forgotten. Here, in one of the fish-markets of the port city, a sign over the message "irasshaimase" (いらっしゃいませ) i.e. "welcome" says "the March 11, 2022 tsunami reached this height".
