The bicycle of our neighborhood postman in the morning of the New Year's Day: Japanese post promises to deliver within the day all the nengajo ) cards the Japanese send to relatives, friends and acquaintances to wish them a happy new year. To get an idea of what we are talking about here, the post office issued 1.64 billion such cards this year and there are at least as many more that the Japanese design themselves. Some hundreds of these are in the bicycle's basket.
