There are still several houses like this from the Taisho (1912-1925) and early Showa (1925-1989) periods, especially in East Tokyo, where we also live And they make the metropolis' urban landscape even more absurd -as if it was lacking in absurdity. For the record, and because some people might think "oh, how beautiful and picturesque" I should point out that the estimations about 100.000 fatalities in the next big Tokyo earthquake are mostly in reference to these houses.
