That the Japanese do not sign but stamp using a small read stamp called “hanko” (判子) is rather well known (?) The shop in the picture is part of a big chain making hanko in one hour; the logo-mascot evokes images of the old TV series “Mito Komon” (水戸黄門), a samurai show bad enough to last 42 years.
