...tour bus name I've seen but it is one of the weirder. Perhaps I should start a collection about them --and find out why they give tour buses these names.

...ονομασία που έχω δει σε τουριστικό λεωφορείο, αλλά είναι από τις πιο αλλόκοτες. Ίσως πρέπει να αρχίσω μια σχετική συλλογή --και να μάθω γιατί τους δίνουν τέτοιες ονομασίες.

In Japanese, the sound "di" doesn't differ from the sound "ji". Therefore to the Japanese, "adidas" sounds like "ajidas". But "aji" (鯵/アジ) is the Japanese word for horse mackerel so "adidas" becomes "aji desu" (アジ です) i.e. "it is horse mackerel". And the three leaves complete the picture.

Στα ιαπωνικά, ο ήχος "ντι" δε διαφέρει από τον ήχο "τζι". Συνεπώς, για τους Ιάπωνες το "αντίντας" ακούγεται σαν "ατζίντας". Όμως "άτζι" (鯵/アジ) λέγεται το σαφρίδι οπότε το "αντίντας" γίνεται "άτζι ντες" (アジ です) δηλαδή "είναι σαφρίδι". Και τα τρία φύλλα ολοκληρώνουν την εικόνα.

After two years of absence because of Covid, Bon Odori (盆踊り), the dance at the end of the summer where a group of dancers is circle dancing on a scaffold and people are following around it, was held again in Asakusa. This one was on the grounds of Higashi Honganji (東本願寺) temple and the atmosphere was really good!

Μετά από δύο χρόνια απουσίας λόγω Κόβιντ, το Μπον Οντόρι (盆踊り), ο χορός στο τέλος του καλοκαιριού όπου μια ομάδα χορεύει κυκλικά πάνω σε μια εξέδρα και ο κόσμος ακολουθεί γύρω-γύρω από αυτή, οργανώθηκε ξανά στην Ασακούσα. Το συγκεκριμένο ήταν στον χώρο του ναού Χιγάσι Χόνγκαντζι (東本願寺) και η ατμόσφαιρα ήταν πραγματικά πολύ ωραία!

...or 円谷 英二 (1901-1970), the man who did the special effects for the first Godzilla, created Ultraman and is considered the father of the whole monster movie genre (kaiju/怪獣 or tokusatsu/特撮) was from Sukagawa in Fukushima --there's also a museum about him and his work there. Here, is a stand with products (sake, wine and chocolates) inspired by Tsuburaya and his films at the special shop promoting Fukushima products in Nihonbashi. (Incidentally, these shops from various areas of Japan, are called "antenna shop"/アンテナショップ.)

...ή 円谷 英二 (1901-1970), ο άνθρωπος που έκανε τα ειδικά εφέ για τον πρώτο Γκοτζίλα, δημιούργησε τον Ούλτραμαν και θεωρείται ο πατέρας όλου του είδους τανιών με τέρατα (κάιτζου/怪獣 ή τοκουσάτσου/特撮), ήταν από τη Σουκαγκαουα στη Φουκουσίμα --εκεί μάλιστα, υπάρχει και ένα σχετικό μουσείο. Εδώ, ένας πάγκος προϊόντων (σάκε, κρασί και σοκολάτες) εμπνευσμένων από τον Τσουμπουράγια και τη δουλειά του στο ειδικό κατάστημα προώθησης προϊόντων από τη Φουκουσίμα στο Νιχονμπάσι. (Για την ιστορία, τα καταστήματα αυτού του στιλ, από τις διάφορες περιοχές της Ιαπωνίας, λέγονται "αντένα σοπ"/アンテナショップ.)

...we are reminded by Doraemon who, despite his 53 years, remains one of the most popular characters in the world of children's manga/anime. As if the Japanese need persuasion to wear a mask anyway.

...υπενθυμίζει ο Ντοραεμόν, ο οποίος παρά τα 53 του χρόνια, παραμένει ένας από τους δημοφιλέστερους χαρακτήρες του κόσμου των παιδικών μάνγκα/άνιμε. Λες και οι Ιάπωνες χρειάζονται προτροπή για να φορέσουν μάσκα έτσι κι αλλιώς.

Or "Ajia" as it's called in Japanese. As anyone can easily (?) understand, it is a super-market with products from other Asian countries. I still find it a little funny, though.
