A chozu (手水), a basin where people rinse their hands and mouth before praying in Shinto shrines; usually somewhere there you will also find some dragon although bamboo like this one's are also popular. One interesting aspect of the highly distinctive Japanese religious landscape is that chozu have also been adopted by Buddhist temples: when an idea is good, what does it matter from which religion it comes?
