In Japanese "木村屋", in the heart of Ginza, founded in 1869 and with the calligraphy in its "corporate identity" written by legendary swordsman Yamaoka Tesshu (山岡 鉄舟, 1836-1888), friend of its founder Kimura Yasube (木村安兵衛, 1817-1889) Kimuraya is responsible for the most famous pop Japanese sweet, anpan (あんパン), that is Western style bread made with the traditional Japanese yeat sakadane (酒種) and with an anko (餡こ) red bean filling. The story goes that thanks to the relationship with Yamaoka Tesshu, Kimura presented his anpan to the Emperor Meiji himself; the urban legend goes that the latter loved it.
