There are quite a few martial arts practitioners who don’t know that the word “dojo” (i.e. “a place to practice the martial arts”) comes originally from Zen Buddhism. There, the word is used for the place where people practice Zazen –something like meditation but without the nonsense. In the picture, you can see the Tokyo dojo (or “zendo”) of Gudo Nishijima’s Dogen Sangha group.
