(31) The road to Kyoto

The board explains that this street was once part of the Tokaido, the legendary road that connected Edo (the old Tokyo) to Kyoto and that helped make Japan what it is today. Some of the travelers on Tokaido must have worn something like the “geta” clogs this old man is wearing.
