If I'd seen it in a clubbing environment I might hadn't even noticed it (yeah, right) --in the train, in daytime and with very simple, everyday clothes, it was the first (and only) thing you could see.

Αν το είχα δει σε περιβάλλον κλάμπινγκ, μπορεί να μην το είχα προσέξει (ναι, καλά) --στο τρένο, μέρα και με πολύ απλά καθημερινά ρούχα ήταν το πρώτο πρώτο (και το μόνο) πράγμα που έβλεπες.

The split-toe concept, famous from tabi and zori worn with kimono, taken to the extreme --almost.

(2499) The other baumkuchen

I was saying, two years ago that my favorite baumkuchen (German round layered cake that has been very popular in Japan the last 100 years) is the one made by the Jiichiro (治一郎) from Shizuoka. And it's this one --notice the special case for the little fork that comes with every piece.

(2499) Το άλλο μπάουμ-κούχεν

Έλεγα πριν από δύο χρόνια ότι το αγαπημένο μου μπάουμ-κούχεν (γερμανικό στρογγυλό κέικ σε στρώσεις που είναι πολύ δημοφιλές στην Ιαπωνία τα τελευταία 100 χρόνια) είναι αυτό που φτιάχνει η εταιρεία Τζιιτσίρο (治一郎) από τη Σιζουόκα. Και είναι αυτό --προσοχή στην ειδική θήκη για το πιρουνάκι που συνοδεύει κάθε κομμάτι.

I mean, of course, the other half of the cow I came across the other day. And yes, like everyone in Japan, it's also wearing its mask --we are not animals for crying out loud!

Αναφέρομαι βεβαίως στην άλλη μισή από την αγελάδα που είχα πετύχει προ ημερών. Και ναι, όπως όλοι στην Ιαπωνία, φοράει κι αυτή τη μάσκα της --δεν είμαστε ζώα, διάβολε!

(2497) Cheap but historic

The shop and outlet in Akihabara of Tirol Choco, the company that although it exists since 1903 (with a different name), in 1979 it became a part of modern Japanese history with the Tirol or "Chiroru/チロル" in Japanese which not only are available in dozens of varieties but they cost just 20 yen/$0.18 each. Incidentally, the neighborhood wasn't chosen for touristic reasons: the company's HQ is right above the shop.
