At the right of Shirahata Jinja's torii, twelve tablets with the twelve animals (or eto/干支) of the Japanese zodiac --they are shaped as the (much smaller) votive tablets or ema (絵馬) that can often be found in shrines. The tablets were there because it was around NewYear's, they aren't part of the shrine's regular decoration.
