At metro's Ginza Line's station, a roof tile with the face of a demon (onigawara/鬼瓦) from Sensoji, welcomes visitors to Asakusa. Like in the West, they are used to ward away evil and it is generally thought that they came from there to Japan via the Silk Road and China in the Nara period (710-1794).
