...that since Daruma is one of Japan's most recognizable images, it would be good to use him as a mascot of their area. This is what Ishikawa (石川) Prefecture in western Honshu did; the name of the mascot is "Hyakuman-san" (百万さん), that is, "Mr. One Million" but the influence from the founder of Zen is obvious! The pictures are from a shop with products from the prefecture in Ginza.
