(1779) Over 100 years have passed...


...since the time when oiran (花魁), high class courtesans were strolling around Asakusa (although, as a matter of fact, they never strolled around Asakusa: they were permanently confined in Yoshiwara/吉原 a little further up) but thanks to the kimono rental shops, from time to time you come across some. By the way, all the women I've seen choose the particular look were Japanese, whatever that means.
