(1714) Over the doors of Kyoto though...

...or to be precise of the doors of okiya (置屋), the lodgings of geisha, wooden tablets with their names. Here at an okiya of the Gion Kobu (祇園甲部) area, in Gion of course, whose emblem is a circle of eight dango (団子) dumplings around the character "ko" (甲); the okiya is called "Ninben" (イ) and its geisha and maiko have names starting with "mame" (豆/まめ).
