You reach MInakami (水上) in Gunma
and to misquote Yasunari Kawabata, “the train comes out of the long tunnel and there is the snow country”:
everything around you is covered with at least one foot of snow.
Luckily, the rooms at the onsen (温泉) i.e. hotel with a hot spring (the Turks would call this a hamam) is warm
and, despite the low price, extremely comfortable.
