(2763) The same Date Masamune...

...this time in a sake named "Sendai Eki Masamune" (仙臺驛政宗) i.e. "Sendai Station Masamune" --of course we bought a bottle to try it.

(2763) Ο ίδιος Ντάτε Μασαμούνε...

...αυτή τη φορά σε ένα σάκε με την ονομασία "Σεντάι Έκι Μασαμούνε" (仙臺驛政宗) ήτοι "Μασαμούνε του Σταθμού του Σεντάι" --φυσικά πήραμε ένα μπουκάλι για να το δοκιμάσουμε.

(2762) Back to Sendai Station...

...where even the convenience stores (aka "konbini") are themed after Date Masamune, the feudal warlord about whom I wrote the other day. The relief on the wall is his statue which is in the ruins of the Aobajo (青葉城) castle, also in Sendai, about 1.5 mile from the station.

(2762) Επιστροφή στον σταθμό του Σεντάι...

...όπου ακόμα και τα μίνι-μάρκετ κονμπίνι, έχουν σαν θέμα τον Ντάτε Μασαμούνε, τον φεουδάρχη πολέμαρχο για τον οποίο είχα γράψει προ ημερών. Το ανάγλυφο στον τοίχο είναι το άγαλμά του το οποίο βρίσκεται στα ερείπια του κάστρου Αόμπα-τζο (青葉城), επίσης στο Σεντάι, περίπου 2,5 χιλιόμετρα από τον σταθμό.

(2761) A short break...

...to the Miyagi stuff because of Black Friday: the Family Mart convenience store chain has an offer until November 28: if you buy two fried food items, you get a piece of fried chicken. Because if you write "Friday" in Japanese it becomes "furai-deh" (フライデー)  and "furai" means "fried". (Normally, Friday in Japanese is "Kinyobi"/金曜日).

(2761) Μικρή διακοπή...

...στα του Μιγιάγκι λόγω Μπλακ Φράιντεϊ: η αλυσίδα μίνι-μάρκετ Family Mart κάνει προσφορά μέχρι και τις 28 Νοεμβρίου: αγοράζοντας κανείς δύο τηγανητά φαγητά, παίρνει ένα κομμάτι τηγανητού κοτόπουλου. Επειδή αν γράψει κανείς το "Φράιντεϊ" στα ιαπωνικά γίνεται "φουράι-ντε" (フライデー) και το "φουράι" σημαίνει "τηγανητός". (Κανονικά στα ιαπωνικά η Παρασκευή λέγεται "Κινγιόμπι"/金曜日).

(2760) Paean for the trees

This is the name of the giant stained glass that is in the center of Miyagi Station (yesterday it was somewhat hidden by the Pokemon). In Japanese "Mori no Sanka"  (杜の讃歌) and made by the painter Zenjiro Chikaoka  (近岡善次郎, 1914-2007) in 1978.

(2760) Παιάνας για το δάσος

Αυτή είναι η ονομασία του γιγάντιου βιτρώ που βρίσκεται στο κέντρο του σταθμού του Μιγιάγκι (εχτές ήταν κάπως κρυμμένο ανάμεσα στα Πόκεμον). Στα ιαπωνικά "Μόρι νο Σάνκα" (杜の讃歌) και φτιαγμένο από τον ζωγράφο Ζεντζίρο Τσικαόκα (近岡善次郎, 1914-2007) το 1978.

...dressed for the world premier of the Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet games.

(2758) Besides Buddhist clerics...

...at the east entrance of Sendai Station there is also a statue of Anpanman (アンパンマン), one of the most popular children's manga and anime heroes. Because a few minute-walk from there is one of the five Anpanman museums in Japan --oddly, none of them is in Tokyo.
