Across the tablets, a statue dedicated to general Minamoto Yoshitsune (源 義経, 1159-1189) and his faithful retainer Musashibo Benkei (武蔵坊弁慶, 1155–1189). Yoshitsune is enshrined in Shirahata Jinja and the name of the shrine ("shirahata" means "white flag") comes from the white-colored banner of the house of Minamoto.
