Nihon_arekore_02881_Rose_chan_90_years_Takashimaya_100_cl

...but since we are in the entrance of Takashimaya, a picture of Rose-chan (ローズちゃん) the shop's mascot since 1957. The decoration next to her is made of a thin paper cord called "mizuhiki" (水引) and is for the 90 years of the Nihonbashi store --the original store opened in Kyoto in 1831.

(For a bigger version of this picture both in color and black and white, check my "Japan Arekore" set on Flickr).
