(2616) Children's Day, part 1

We have said it before but a little review doesn't hurt: the holiday is tomorrow, on May 5th and it's called "Kodomo no Hi" (こどもの日) that translates as "Children's Day" but is basically about boys (girls have their own day on March 3) and the decorations fpor the day are samurai helmets (kabuto/兜) and koinobori (鯉のぼり) streamers shaped as carps. Here are both, together with the seagull yurikamome (ゆりかもめ), the mascot of the robotic, elevated line Sinkotsu Yurikamome (新交通ゆりかもめ) connecting Tokyo's areas Shimbashi (新橋) and Toyosu (豊洲) --home of, among other things, the new central fish market.

(For a bigger version of this picture both in color and black and white, check my "Japan Arekore" set on Flickr).
