...everything is done for the Japanese, this billboard at Kawasaki Station explains why there are capsule hotels: because some nights men can't return home (that's exactly what the text says). In other words, you went out after work, you drank, you missed the last train so you go to a capsule near the station, sleep there and in the morning go back to work. Whatever foreign tourists might believe.
