...and with martial arts full of references to them as symbols of flexibility and suppleness, every time I see them (and there are plenty in Japan) I'm always a little moved -enough to write a "Letter from a floating world" about them some time ago. Here a small thicket in Ueno's Shhinobazu Pond with their leaves wet from the morning mist.
