It's been around for 70 years and it was the pillar of the Suntory brewery from WWII onward: it's Torys. the cheapest and one of the hardest (in terms of taste) Japanese whiskies. Although nowadays countless better whiskies are available, Torys circulates widely, less because of its pricetag and more because of the nostalgia it causes to most people over 40. In the picture, a special packaging that came out last year for its 70th birthday and included a special glass; please note the mascot, "Uncle Torys" (アンクルトリス) who came later, in 1958 but remains one of the most emblematic faces of post-war Japanese advertising. And for anyone interested, yes, I do drink Torys and yes, I do like it.
