Since I discovered them, I always wanted a huge box of hato-sabure (鳩サブレ), the famous butter cookies from Kamakura. And finally it came in the form of an "o-kaeshi" (お返し) gift, i.e. one of those gifts that fill up Japanese life (you send a gift to someone and they send you another gift to thank you for the gift so you send another one to thank them for that gift etc. etc. etc.) So here's the unveiling, starting from the package as it was delivered by the postman and reaching to the cookies themselves; pay attention to the detail in the seventh picture: the little sticker has a tiny strip without glue so you can take it off without breaking your nails.
For the record, the package had 28 cookies and it's not the biggest -the biggest has 56.
(For a bigger version of this picture both in color and black and white, check my "Japan Arekore" set on Flickr).
