In a world where many confuse budo with the hysteric illusions of Yamamoto Tsunetomo and Mishima Yukio, the sweaty clothes after “military grade” training sessions, the bureaucratic fixations on trivia and the machinations for a dan grade or a chair, people like Nakamura Yoichi, 20th headmaster of the classic weapons school Toda-ha Buko Ryu are a rarity; and since Wednesday, even more so. Rest in peace, sensei.
