Twice a year, in mid-winter and in mid-summer the Japanese exchange gifts; the former are called “o-seibou” (お歳暮) and the latter, “o-chugen” (お中元). The thing is that these gifts are supposed to be perishables, which leads to some very funny choices like this rather pompous package for, well, ham (notice the roses).
