I’m not sure that the particular photo really conveys the size of the crowds that gather around the three big o-mikoshi, the ones which actually honor the three “saints” of Sanja Matsuri (the name literally translates as “celebration of the three shrines”). But managing to even shoot under these circumstances was a huge task! Just for reference, the street where the picture was taken is a two way street with two lanes for each direction.
