In Japanese, a kite is called a “tako” (凧). This one, though, is an “oo-dako” (大凧), a “big kite”; the name is obvious even before you hear that is weighs one ton. These things can only be flown in special locations like this riverside plain near the Sagamihara city in Kanagawa.
