The Emperor of Japan, Akihito (明仁) is reading his last speech making his abdication official -at 00:00, his reign will end typically as well and his son Prince Hiro-no-Miya (浩宮) or Naruhito (徳仁) will take his place.
The front pages of Japan's two biggest newspapers, "Asahi Shinbun" (朝日新聞) and "Yomiuri Shinbun" (読売新聞) for the historic day, the last of the Heisei (平成) Period.
