(1814) Chiba in Ueno (3)

Was there even a chance that Chiba wouldn't have its official mascot? It's Chiba-kun  (チーバくん) and he is a dog in the shape of the prefecture. Of course  he has his own website and in the event you could find him everywhere...

...often on other mascot -here with Ekichoken (駅長犬), the mascot for the Chiba office of the JR railroad company. Ekichoken is also a dog, he is a station master and he has his own Twitter account. Japanese mascots live an interesting and complicated life.

(For a bigger version of these pictures both in color and black and white, check my "Japan Arekore" set on Flickr)
